Mythology and gaming intersected at the Tales of Us GameJam, an event that brought together game developers who wanted to make their mark by creating an original title with Romanian mythological ties.
The Game Jam took place from September 30 to October 2nd 2022 at CINETIC and was organised by Tales of Us and RGDA (Romanian Game Developers Association).
The goal was to showcase the local culture and talent of young Romanian developers internationally. The GameJam happened in a hybrid format, with up to 30 slots available at CINETIC in Bucharest, and unlimited spots for those who chose to participate online.
There were 8 myths the contenders could choose from, with each myth varying in style and format which allowed the gamers to not only showcase Romanian mythology and folklore within an explorative gaming format, but also to extend their abilities of digital storytelling.
