An initiative by tales of us

The world LIKE you've never SEEN it

World of Us (WoU) is an upcoming mythological digital adventure where children travel, create and learn about the world around them through play.

UNLOCKING THE
METAVERSE

If we could create a world together, what would that look like? What would we learn from each other? How would we connect? The answers to these questions are for us to discover — for us to create — in the World of Us.

Young people and those living within at-risk ecological environments are already coming forward with new creative storytelling methods. Online spaces are quickly becoming hubs of new, authentic narratives. World of Us is a bridge for ancestral knowledge to reach a global audience, starting with stories from regions in Congo, Brazil, and Romania. We want to share narratives at the intersection of culture, community, and nature and centre the experiences of real people around the globe through storytelling, education and co-creation.

It's time to begin
this journey

Ancestral knowledge & Mythology

As new technologies and methods for storytelling emerge, we believe that it's crucial to keep telling the tales of those who came before us. Tales of people indigenous to places in need of urgent environmental attention. Tales that tell us about the harmonious coexistence of humans and the natural world.

Learn about the world's most important ecosystems

Ecosystems are all around us, but there are some that need our attention now more than ever. By learning about the ecosystems we don’t see every day, we can also learn about those who inhabit them and how our actions impact them—from every corner of the world.

Digital citizenship

Young people and those living within at-risk ecological environments are already coming forward with new creative storytelling methods. Online spaces are quickly becoming hubs of new, authentic narratives. This is what we want to support; storytellers with agency over the tools they need to keep telling their stories.

VISIT WEBSITE
tales of us is a non-profit organisation that is committed to amplifying the voice of storytellers around the world to address critical global issues. Using multimedia as an instrument of change, our initiatives focus on uncovering stories and bridging narratives through mythologies and ancestral knowledge from regions in Congo, Brazil and Romania.

Our first projects—the book Congo Tales (Random House, 2018) and the children’s film The Little Fish and the Crocodile—brought stories about the Congo rainforest and its communities to the world. Congo Tales shared mythologies of people from Mbomo in the Odzala-Kokoua National Park located in the Republic of Congo.

It became a global news story, featured on major news outlets such as The New York Times, BBC News, PBS NewsHour, winning the Chicago International Children's Film Festival and many more. The project brought much-needed attention to the intersectional aspects of conserving the Congo rainforest.

Work with us

Our mission is to share lessons and mythologies from regions that need urgent environmental attention with the next generation. How do we get there? Together. We create this with the help of storytellers, makers, and activists, so that their perspectives and voices remain at the heart of these messages.
