The wings of a butterfly whisper the rainforest's oldest tales. They emerge from the cocoon to flutter towards change — small, delicate, and far more powerful than they appear. This year, with butterflies as our guide, TALES is joining the Green Game Jam in support of the Rainforest Alliance and its mission to protect the world's most vital ecosystems.

The Green Game Jam is an annual challenge for studios working on live games with existing audiences. Studios build new content into their games that engages players on environmental topics while working toward a collective, real-world goal. This year, the challenge is to create an activation inspired by coral reefs or rainforests that raises funds and awareness for the ecosystems themselves. It's a simple but ambitious idea: connect the joy of gaming with change we can all see.

For TALES, the choice was easy. Our work in Brazil's Amazon rainforest – and the indigenous people who call it home – has given us the chance to experience first-hand the majesty of this natural force.

Rainforests aren't just held together by towering trees. They are held together by millions of delicate connections – and few creatures embody that fragile balance better than the butterfly. Though rainforests cover less than 3% of the planet's surface, they are home to more than half of all terrestrial animal species. They cool and regulate local micro-climates and limit the Earth's reflectivity, which, simply put, helps stabilize ocean currents, wind, and rainfall patterns across the globe.

When a rainforest thrives, the whole planet feels it.

That belief sits at the heart of everything we do. At TALES, we know that small moments of learning can inspire a generation of young players to work together to protect the natural world. At World of Us, we're hoping that young players will be able to explore the natural world in new ways and learn ways to keep our planet in balance.

Protecting our rainforests is still within reach. Initiatives like the Rainforest Alliance prove how much meaningful work is already underway. It brings us real joy to find people to partner with on our journey of raising awareness. And who could be better to work with than the Green Game Jam and the Rainforest Alliance?

Watch this space to see this butterfly effect take flight.
